Share Your World – Monday 13 November 2023

This week pensitivy101 asks the following questions.

1.  If you can, how often do you exercise every week?

I have had a break from regular exercise recently. My excuses include – a foot injury, too wet to walk, too windy to walk, too cold to walk, and at my age why should I! But the time for excuses is over. My foot is better and the weather has improved. I just have to get myself motivated and return to walking an hour a day every day! And when the weather is awful, I have an aerobics video that I can do. NO MORE EXCUSES!

2.  Do you belong, or have you ever belonged, to a gym?

Yes, I belonged to a gym for many years – and I did go regularly.

3.  Do you prefer to exercise alone or in a group (ie. aerobics)

Before I joined a gym with a variety of treadmills and other exercise machines, I used to go to aerobic classes. After that, I exercised on my own at the gym. I also for many years had a running partner but sometimes our schedules did not allow for us to run together so I would run with my dog or alone. When we moved to Struisbaai and there was no gym I followed a program at home that I’d done with a personal trainer. I don’t do that anymore. Instead, I do a bit of yoga and I walk, usually on my own.

4.  Do you enjoy it or feel it’s something you ought to do?

Both. I feel it is important to exercise and I certainly enjoy it once I’m in the routine of it. When I was younger I would go out for a run regardless of the weather but now that I’m older I don’t feel that strongly about it!

Gratitude

I love the above meme and I am grateful that I am in good health and can indeed live in the moment and enjoy what each day brings.

    Hi Helen,
Thanks for joining in. Love your ‘stress pill’ meme.
In 1991 enjoyed my aerobics class and attended with a friend from work. We would also swim in our lunch hour or before work twice a week. These days my exercise is walking the dog. She gets three walks a day as a rule, though lately Hubby has been taking her more often than I have so I’ve been managing once or twice. We have found walking her together can be counter productive as we have different paces and he walks with her on the right and I walk with her on the left! She’s an ambidextrous dog!

I really miss having a dog accompanying me on my walks. Because of our gypsy lifestyle we no longer have pets. However, we have a friend who often comes to stay and he brings his shepherd. And she knows she’ll get regular walks with me! We also have the neighbours’ 2 cats visiting every day. But they don’t pester me for walkies. They’re good company though. We get the fun without the responsibility.😆 I love that your dog is ambidextrous. 😂
