Today’s JusJoJan prompt is doubling with One-Liner Wednesday. The word to use is Grateful.

Every day is a gift. One more time I can enjoy a sunrise, hear the birds singing in my garden, and have the next-door cats come in for a cuddle. It’s another day to begin a new adventure, to talk to loved ones and create something special even if it is only the evening meal.
I am grateful that today I got to see the excitement on a six-year-olds face as she started Grade 1 on this first day of the school year. When we arrived to collect her she ran straight out the door to greet us. Mom followed all giggles saying she’d been up since dawn! My heart was full!

An adorable kid!

Today is the first day of schooling for so many children all over the country – a wonderful start for most; disappointing for some … and sad to hear on the radio of the many who have not yet been placed.

Yes, Anne it is sad. There is such a need for more classroom space. Too many children left with nowhere to go or if they do the classrooms are often overcrowded.

My youngest grandchildren start school tomorrow. The elder is unhappy because he has been assigned to a ‘dragon’ of a teacher … oh dear, I am sure he will find she is not as bad as her reputation among the other primary school children is!

My grandson was furious when he was put into a certain teacher’s class in Grade 6 and after a week simply adored her. ‘ She’s just like you, Gran.” He reported. I do hope your grandson bonds with his dragon too.
