I love the poem, Cats Sleep Anywhere by Eleanor Farjeon and it often comes to mind when the cats visit Milkwood Manor!
Cats sleep, anywhere,
Any table, any chair
Top of piano, window-ledge,
In the middle, on the edge,
Open drawer, empty shoe,
Anybody’s lap will do,
Fitted in a cardboard box,
In the cupboard, with your frocks-
Anywhere! They don’t care!
Cats sleep anywhere.
They certainly don’t care and they don’t have any respect for personal space – except of course, their own. Don’t you dare try to insist they come for a cuddle or sleep next to you on the couch – Oh no – Only when it suits them and then their choice of cosy position may be right under you neck with their tail in your face!

These are just a few of the places cats think are comfy – we won’t start on empty boxes and the smallest spaces they can find!

A cardboard box is entertainment for ages. We “lost” a cat once and found her asleep in a drawer. She crawled to the back of the dresser into a drawer from behind

Mike was lost for a whole day a few weeks ago. He crept into the neighbour’s garage, found a small cosy space and went to sleep. The neighbour is not a permanent resident and did not notice the cat, locked up and left. Fortunately, Mike’s owner heard the meow when he was searching for his kitty. The security company fortunately had keys and got him out!
